About Corbett Tiger Reserve
Asia's first national park — established 1936
Named after legendary hunter-turned-conservationist Jim Corbett, Corbett Tiger Reserve spans 520 km² of sal forests, grasslands, and riverine habitats in Uttarakhand's Shivalik foothills. It was India's first national park and Project Tiger's launch site in 1973.
Today the reserve protects 260+ Bengal tigers, 650+ bird species, Asian elephants, leopards, and countless other species. UNESCO recognition underscores its global conservation significance.
